This is the extraordinary story of a courageous and determined manâa story that deserves to be known by everyone. A man who boldly faced failures and challenges, fought against all odds, and eventually achieved sky-high success. The uncommon journey of a common man. His name is Shivnath Borse, fondly known as:
SHIBO â THE POWER HOUSE
The name âShiboâ was lovingly given by his friends.
Shi + Bo = Shibo
In local culture, Shibo also means âuncleâ or âan old friendâ âan affectionate name of age old friend elders than ones father. The name you admire, respect, and trust deeply.
Shiboâs Childhood :
Shivnath Borse (Shibo) was born into a humble farming family. Being the eldest among his siblings, he took on the responsibility of looking after them, helping his mother with household chores, and studying whenever time allowed
As a teenager, his life revolved around school, studies, and assisting his father in farming. At the young age of ten, he began working in the fields alongside laborers. For three years, he lived with his uncle in a nearby village, where everyone affectionately called him kaka (uncle) even as a child. His uncle owned vast agricultural lands and a large family. It was here that Shiboâs deep passion for farming took root.
Youth & Education
Shibo initially lacked fluency in English, and at that time, students could still pass matriculation without English. He dropped out of school and began farming. In 1972, during a severe drought, he worked on government employment schemesâbuilding dams, roads, digging wells, and breaking stones. At just 20, these physically demanding jobs made him strong.
While his friends pursued college, they encouraged him to continue education. He attempted the English exam and gained admission to an arts college. Despite initial challenges, Shibo topped five out of seven subjects in his class, including English. He became well-known in college for his excellence in academics, sports, NSS, and cultural events. He was honored with the âPurushottamâ awardâmeaning an ideal man. He went on to complete a BA in English.
Job & Marriage
While helping others, Shibo eventually landed a job as a manager at a Taluka Milk Cooperative. Under his management, the union achieved A-grade status in its first year.
When it was time to marry, he met a girl and asked her a straightforward question: âI plan to quit my job and take up farming full-time. Are you ready for that life?â She agreedâand they were married.
Farming & Family Responsibilities
As promised, Shibo resigned from his job and dove headfirst into farming. He helped his father repay debts. He inherited just 2.5 acres of dry land without irrigation. Along with his wife, he flattened the land by carrying soil on their heads.
They had two sons. One continued the familyâs farming and nursery work; the other became a Chartered Accountant. They dug wells and secured water, transforming the land into fertile irrigated fields. Shibo cultivated crops like sugarcane, grapes, pomegranate, custard apple, and more. He started a nursery for vegetable seedlings.
He developed multiple wells, farm ponds, and an interconnected pipeline system. His family now owns cars, tractors, farm equipment, sheds, warehouses, and cold storage units. Every essential agricultural facility was built.
Shibo, a nature lover, often says, âI will beautify the world Iâve been given.â True to his words, he adorned his fields and nursery with lush greenery. Birds chirp all around this natural paradise.
He named this beautiful space on the name of his wifeâSunanda Baugâcomplete with a farm house as lovely as a resort, where his grandchildren played and grew up. Shibo reached the pinnacle of prosperity and happiness.
Fearless Shibo
Shibo turned his weaknesses into strengths: He once didnât know English, but later earned a degree in the subject. At 35, he suffered from a spinal disorder, unable to sleep or sit properly for 15 years. Without any medical treatment, he healed himself through yoga and diet. At 74, he is fit and healthy. He once failed in the dairy business due to water shortages. So, he dug multiple wells, practiced rainwater harvesting, built ponds in rocky terrain, and became self-sufficient in water.
Versatile Shibo
Shibo is a renowned speaker, thinker, writer, and organizer. Shibo has deep knowledge of:
Agricultural economics
Organic farming
Water management
Vastu Shastra
Astrology
Agricultural market systems
Shibo has published eight books, delivered interviews on radio and TV, and written over 100 article for newspapers.
Social Contributions
At just 14, Shibo began selling farm produce at the market and witnessed farmer exploitation through illegal commissions and deductions. At 56, he founded the Indian Chamber of Agriculture and filed a public interest litigation against illegal trade practices. The High Court intervened, laws were changed, and farmers in Maharashtra were saved from Rs. 5,000 crore in annual losses.
In 2011, he presented before a Parliamentary Committee of 24 MPs in Mumbai. As a result, the Government of India began giving all farmers Rs. 6,000 annually under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi schemeâan annual outlay of Rs. 75,000 crore.
Shibo discovered that Maharashtra had signed a tripartite agreement to give away 113 TMC water from the Nar-Par-Damanganga-Pinjal basin to Gujarat, despite heavy rainfall. He wrote and distributed an awareness book. The movement reached the assembly, a survey was ordered, and finally, major irrigation projects were sanctioned:Damanganga-Godavari (âš12,000 crore),Nar-Tapi (âš8,000 crore),Par-Godavari (âš20,000 crore pending approval) His book âKon Hoil Bhagirath?â (Who Will Be the Bhagirath?) sparked this water revolution worth âš40,000 crore.
Smart Village Vision
Industries grow in cities, yet they depend on villages for labor, water, raw materials, and food. While villages remain neglected, urban areas face housing shortages and overcrowding.
Shibo believes that agro-processing units must rise in villages so that rural youth can find employment locally and deliver high-quality products to urban markets. Thatâs why he built his agro-processing unit in his own village and farm.

In the Vedic Sanatan tradition, food is considered as Purna Brahma â the ultimate divine. Hence, diet functions as medicine. Likewise, yoga therapy is also an ancient healing method. However, with changing times, society has come to view food merely as a means to fill the stomach. There is neither time nor discipline regarding eating habitsâno consideration of when to eat, what to eat, or what to avoid. No matter how much wealth one possesses, health cannot be bought. Health must be preserved, and for that, it is essential to maintain a balance between diet and yoga.
Shibo has a refined taste for flavors. His mother used to always say, âYour tongue is the pride of the whole village.
Having cured his spinal ailment through yoga and diet, Shibo named his product line âSwad Yogaââsignifying a blend of health and taste.
Under the company SHIBO FOODS OPC PVT. LTD., he now delivers premium quality processed food products to customers.
VISION: To create a sustainable and self-reliant rural economy by transforming farms into flourishing enterprises, empowering farmers with innovation, and delivering natural, nutritious food products to every home.
